Abnormal Returns: What would Warren do? Abnormal Returns

It will be interesting to see if Berkshire can maintain it's aura after Buffett passes. My guess is that it won't. It will become just another conglomerate - though it could take decades for it to lose its association with Buffett entirely.

Thanks for reading my post and including it.

The conglomerate issue has Wall Street's shorts in a knot, because most of them lose focus. WB hasn't - he doesn't try to run the companies, only ensures that capable people are in place, and he continues to allocate capital. I suspect his successor will act in exactly the same manner. This isn't any tougher than running a mutual fund - only without the distraction of withdrawals.
